At Narrabeen Lakes Sailing Club, we have a true passion for sailing and we enjoy sharing our hard-earned experience and love for the sport with newcomers.

We provide a number of Learn to Sail programs for children and can accommodate every experience level, from the novice who is new to the sport to the racer who has their own boat. These programs are run by our experienced fellow members, all of whom are volunteers.

  • Dinghy Learn to Sail 1 (LTS) – This is an introductory program run on Sundays for 8 weeks for beginner junior sailors aged 8-12 (access to NLSC club fleet if you don’t own a boat).
  • Development Squad – This program, also run on Sundays, is for emerging beginner and intermediate sailors aged over 8 who have already completed the NLSC’s LTS program (or an equivalent program at another club), and who own their own boat.

For dates of the LTS 1 & the Development Squad sessions, see the NLSC Sailing Calendar.

As a not-for-profit community sporting organisation, NLSC relies on the commitment and passion of all its members to ensure its long-term viability.

The LTS programs, therefore, have two main aims:

  • To provide our young members with the opportunity to start to develop or improve their knowledge and skills of the sport.
  • To create pathways for families who are new to the sport to become members of the NLSC sailing community.

By providing these volunteer services as part of our membership, we hope to instil in our new families the same love for the sport as our long-term members and an ongoing commitment to NLSC.

With this in mind, we strongly encourage our new LTS families to take up the Family Membership Package so that everyone – not just the junior sailor - can become involved in the many opportunities NLSC has to offer on and off the water.

The on-water activities, in particular, include participating in our weekly club racing, coaching, Fun Day sailing events, opportunities to crew with experienced sailors throughout the season and joining the Race Committee and Coaching Teams.
